“Yesterday I worked in Bilibino. Residents of the city said that eggs are sold to people only with a passport — an approach like in the nineties! I instructed to quickly create a supply of eggs in Bilibino sufficient to meet the demand, ”wrote Vladislav Kuznetsov, Acting Governor of Chukotka, in the Telegram channel.
The shortage of eggs in Bilibino did not arise yesterday. Local residents have been complaining for years about problems with the supply of eggs and the price of the product. In social networks, people shared that the cost of eggs reaches 600 rubles per dozen.
Rostislav Sidorov worked in Bilibino on a rotational basis for two years. He knows firsthand about problems with eggs.
– 5.5 thousand people live in Bilibino. The city is located 1000 km from Magadan. Products are delivered there by plane,” says Rostislav. — Residents know when planes with eggs arrive. And if in central Russia, in which case they start buying up buckwheat and sugar, then they run to Bilibino for eggs.
I don’t eat eggs, I don’t like them, but when the next batch of eggs for 120-130 rubles was brought in on New Year’s Eve, I scored nine dozen at once. I succumbed to the hype.
I didn’t hear that eggs were sold according to passports, but restrictions on the sale were introduced.
Bilibino is a small town, everyone knows each other by sight, no passports are needed. If a store saleswoman notices that a person comes for the second time for eggs, she will immediately say: “Are you crazy, three dozen are put in one hand.”
According to the interlocutor, the construction of a poultry farm in Bilibino is unprofitable.
“It is too expensive to bring grain for chickens,” explains Rostislav. – But the main problem of Chukotka is specialists. Because of the frost, it is hard to work here, productivity drops, people get sick more often. Specialists need to be paid a lot of money to get them interested in working in these parts.
Besides, there is a shortage of housing in Bilibino. Cheap apartments are over, and no one will buy 5-6 million. There is no public housing. There are only buildings that need to be restored. There are barracks, but you can't drag a family there. That is, the workers of the poultry farm have nowhere to settle.
In my opinion, in Bilibino it is more important to restore the concrete plant, which collapsed in the nineties, and take care of the city's infrastructure. It would be nice to break the road to the port, then logistics could be cheaper, and not deliver eggs and other products by plane.
Twenty kilometers from the city, a large primary gold deposit is being developed, so money should be invested in this, not eggs produce.
In addition to eggs, people are worried about the slow Internet. Muscovites used this in 2011. There is no Wi-Fi, everyone connects to satellites that are overloaded. The quality is disgusting. A fifteen-second video takes more than 5 minutes to load. Cellular connection is poor, you can only call your relatives at night when everyone is sleeping…
Daria Mikhailova has been living in Bilibino for many years. The girl has not heard about the sale of eggs on passports, but she is aware of the problem: “Eggs are indeed the most scarce product in our country. In municipal stores they cost 160 rubles for a dozen. In commercial stores, the price reaches 480 rubles. Municipal stores now have eggs for sale. Perhaps in the summer, interruptions will begin, as there are not enough planes. The holiday season has begun, people are leaving the area en masse. Food delivery has faded into the background.
The building of the poultry farm in Bilibino was built while it is under development. But the enterprise is too small to fully satisfy the needs of the area.
People are also worried about the rise in food prices over the past year. Fuel is getting more expensive, respectively, and delivery. For example, tomatoes, cucumbers have already reached 1,000 rubles per kg.
Well, medicine is lame. There is an acute shortage of doctors. This is due to working conditions, housing stock, which is not enough. If a doctor comes to us, he will simply have nowhere to live.”
