MOSCOW, June 2. The IX Red Square Book Festival opens in Moscow, the event's press service reports.
New items will be presented by about 400 publishing houses. Among them are Moscow, St. Petersburg flagships and companies from 56 regions and Belarus. There are more than 100 thousand titles of books of different genres.

«Representatives from the Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be added to the traditional participants of the festival,» the press release says.
More than 500 events are planned to be held at 13 thematic venues over five days . Among them are master classes, lectures, performances, speeches and discussions.
The holiday starts at 12.00 with a concert by pianist Boris Berezovsky and his students. They will perform works by Rachmaninov, Kreisler, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Grieg and Schubert.
Among the planned events is a discussion of the novels-biographies of Leo and Alexei Tolstykh. Big Book Prize winners Pavel Basinsky and Aleksey Varlamov are taking part.
“There will also be overseas guests — Swiss publicist, historian, Professor Eric Hoesli will fly to Moscow to present his book Siberian Epopee,” organizers promise.
The program «Chekhov and Tchaikovsky» will be performed by the chamber ensemble «Moscow Soloists» conducted by Yuri Bashmet. Artists and students of the Moscow Art Theater School, headed by the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater named after Anton Chekhov Konstantin Khabensky, will hold a poetry evening «Our Vysotsky.
