St. Petersburg, 3 Jun. A criminal investigation into the attack was initiated after two drones attacked an oil pipeline building in the Nevelsk district of the Pskov region at the end of May, Governor Mikhail Vedernikov said.
He reported on May 27 that the explosion, which occurred as a result of an attack by two drones, damaged the administrative building of the oil pipeline near the village of Litvinovo. No harm done.
As the Pskov governor clarified in a video message published on Saturday in his Telegram channel, two explosions occurred as a result of an attack by two attack drones, damaging facades and glazing.
«The incident was reported to the law enforcement agencies three minutes after the explosions. And I must say that our law enforcement agencies responded promptly … immediately. A task force moved to the scene, seized fragments of drones and striking elements. The material from the pre-investigation check was transferred to the main investigation department Russia, it already on Sunday opened a criminal case on the fact of committing a terrorist act,» Vedernikov said.
According to him, there is no «100% guarantee that such situations will not happen again.» «Today we have formed a working group, we are considering the possibility of purchasing certain types of equipment (to counteract the use of drones — ed.), but <…> this is not only the task of the government of the Pskov region. Those companies, those structures that have critical infrastructure … should also be puzzled by this issue,» the governor believes.
