The Investigative Committee opened a case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code) in connection with the death of residents of the Ulyanovsk Region after poisoning with cider. This was reported by the press service of the department's regional department.
According to investigators, from June 3 to 4, several residents of Dimitrovgrad were hospitalized with a diagnosis of poisoning with an unidentified substance. They received medical attention, but six patients died. The mayor of the city Andrei Bolshakov specified that a total of 12 citizens turned to the hospitals, the surviving six people are in intensive care.
Later, the Rospotrebnadzor of the Ulyanovsk region reported eight deaths after poisoning, Interfax reports. A total of 14 people were injured, according to department estimates.
Investigators have previously determined that the cause of the poisoning could be cider from the local chain of stores «Beer Territory». According to Rospotrebnadzor, we are talking about the Mister Cider brand. As noted in the UK, the drink was supplied by an entrepreneur from the Krasnoglinsky district of the Samara region. Investigative actions are currently being carried out at his enterprise.
