The Investigative Committee opened a case against a 24-year-old Sochi resident in a murder case (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code) due to beating a 7-year-old stepdaughter with a belt, who later died. This was reported by the press service of the Department for the Krasnodar Territory.
Yesterday, the suspect was detained. As noted in the UK, the investigation intends to petition for his detention.
A 24-year-old man, his lover and her daughter lived in a rented apartment in Sochi. On May 27, the stepfather “at least 15 times” hit the girl with a belt, including on the head and stomach, explaining his actions as punishment for the child’s disobedience, the department noted.
For several days, the condition of the injured 7-year-old girl worsened, but neither her mother nor the attacker sought medical help. On the night of June 2, the child's health deteriorated greatly, which is why the mother called an ambulance — the girl died in the medical car.
Investigators plan to study the child's living conditions. In addition, they intend to assess the actions or inaction of the organs of the prevention system and the mother of the deceased girl.
Neighbors of the family told the publication Sochi1.ru that at least twice they turned to the district police officer because of the screams and crying of the child, and they also reported what was happening to the guardianship authorities. The police ignored the statements, and the guardianship specialists positively assessed the girl’s living conditions, the neighbors added.
According to the residents of the house on Timiryazev Street, on the night of June 2 they heard screams in the yard — it was the mother who ran out with the child in her arms and asked for help. “I woke up screaming. The woman begged the doctors to save her daughter. The girl died right in our yard,” recalled a neighbor named Tatyana.
