The first court session on the merits in the extremist case against politician Alexei Navalny and his associate Daniel Kholodny was scheduled for 11:00 on June 19. This is reported by Navalny's Team.
“They promise that the process will be open. But they can close it at any moment,” the oppositionist’s supporters said in a statement. The meeting will be held in correctional colony No. 6, where Navalny is currently serving his sentence. A preliminary hearing on the case was also held there today.
On May 25, Mediazona found out that the Moscow Court had received materials from a new case against Navalny — about calls for extremism, creation of an NPO that infringes on the rights of citizens , financing of extremism, creation of an extremist community, involving minors in dangerous actsand rehabilitation of Nazism.
At the same time, articles appeared in the card that are imputed to the former technical director of the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel, Daniel Kholodny. He is in jail on charges of participationin extremist activity and its financing. Navalny's lawyer Olga Mikhailova told Mediazona that Kholodny would also be taken to court in Vladimir IK-6 from Moscow.
At the end of April, the Basmanny District Court limited Navalny's time to familiarize himself with the materials of the case about organizations and financing of extremist activity up to ten days. As the oppositionist, who participated in the meeting via video link, clarified, there are 196 volumes in the case. Kholodny was also limited in time — he was also given ten days to read 196 volumes.
