The Petrodvorets District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced local student Viktor Melnikov to one year and six months in a colony-settlement for throwing a Molotov cocktail into a building with a sign «military registration and enlistment office». This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
In addition, Melnikov was assigned compulsory outpatient observation and treatment by a psychiatrist at the place of serving his sentence. He was found guilty of intentionally damaging someone else's property out of hooligan motives (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, on September 21, he made a Molotov cocktail and threw it into the building of the military camp at 1A Ilikovskaya Street in the Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg. As a result, a fire started, which led to damage to the finish of the building, and the student also broke a window in the room. The court estimated the damage caused at 283,897 rubles, the defendant had already reimbursed it.
The building had a sign «military commissariat» — the young man suggested that this was a military commissariat, but later it turned out that the current military commissariat was located in the house next door , and the building set on fire by him is simply on the balance sheet of the property relations department of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Melnikov pleaded guilty, his case was considered in a special order. Since the end of September, he has been in jail.
