He was considered the last living representative of the French New Wave. This is a direction in the cinema of the 1950s and 1960s. Claude Chabrol, Francois Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Demy, Agnès Varda and others belonged to him.
Rosier was not as famous as his colleagues, noted in Deadline. But his work expanded the concept of cinema and paved the way for modern directors.
Rosier graduated from the Institute of Cinematography in Paris. After that he worked on television and simultaneously filmed short films. Among them is «Blue Jeans» (1958). The picture was shown at the film festival in French Tours, where
Godard, who worked at that time as a film critic, saw it. He called Rozier's project outstanding.
The first feature film «Farewell to the Philippines» was shown in Cannes in 1962 in the «Week of Critics» section. His 1964 film «Paparazzi» explores the relationship between Brigitte Bardot and the photographers who stalked her during the filming of Godard's «Contempt» in Capri. This is one of the first tapes dedicated to the phenomenon of celebrity and the loss of privacy with the rise of popularity.
