Chronicles project journalist Sergei Kagermazov was prosecuted for five Meduza posts on VKontakte. This was reported by the press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
An administrative case on the dissemination of materials from an «undesirable» organization (Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) was submitted to the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg. Meduza's last post on Kagermazov's social media page was dated March 2, 2021. The publication was declared «undesirable» in January 2023.
According to the press service of the courts of St. Petersburg, the journalist was not informed that a protocol had been drawn up against him, so the materials were returned to the prosecutor's office of the Admiralteisky district of the city to eliminate the shortcomings. It is still unknown when the Kagermazov case will be retried.
The release also refers to two more similar protocols received by the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg — against Valery Nechay and Raisa Raevskaya. Both cases were registered on May 26.
Nechay is the former editor-in-chief of Eta Petersburga. The protocol was drawn up because of the repost of an interview by cartoonist Oleg Kuvaev about the Masyanya series dedicated to the war in Ukraine, which he gave to Meduza last summer. The human rights project “First Department” reports that this is the first administrative case in Russia on the dissemination of materials of an “undesirable” organization.
