Alikhanov declared a state of emergency in the Kaliningrad region due to drought
A state of emergency has been introduced in the Kaliningrad region due to drought, the head of the region Anton Alikhanov said.
“A state of emergency has been introduced in the region emergency of a regional nature, as crops are dying,” he wrote in his telegram channel.
The decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the regional commission for the prevention and elimination of emergencies.
The governor told that in May only 5.5% of the monthly precipitation fell in the Kaliningrad region. This has led to soil drought and the risk of forest fires. According to weather forecasts, rain is not expected yet.
Additional measures will be taken in the region to mitigate the consequences and prevent fires.
