MOSCOW, June 7 Russia is always ready to provide support and assistance to Belgrade, but never interferes in the internal affairs of the republic, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
«Russia, as a sincere and honest friend of Serbia, as you know, does not interfere in its internal affairs. We are always ready to provide our support. We have always provided assistance to Serbia,» Zakharova said at a briefing.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said in an interview with the media that Western countries are waging a hybrid war against the republic and are trying to organize a «Maidan» coup d'état in the country.
Zakharova noted that Moscow is interested in stability in the republic and the Balkan region as a whole and added that «the Serbian people and their elected leadership are capable of solving all issues on the national agenda themselves.»
«He (the Serbian people — ed.) should not be hindered by malicious external factors, which, in particular, are trying to unleash radicals on Belgrade and strive to influence the legitimate authorities of Serbia, using the so-called resource of the street, provoking the color revolutions beloved by the West as a tool overthrowing objectionable governments and replacing them with puppet regimes,» the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
