In kindergarten No. 33 of the village of Novoplatnirovskaya, Krasnodar Territory, a memorial plaque was erected to the contract soldier Roman Popov, who died in Ukraine, who graduated from a preschool in 2005. This was reported on the website of the Kuban Cossack army.
It is noted that the event was attended by pupils and employees of the kindergarten, as well as relatives of the deceased and local Cossacks. A memorial alley was planted around the plaque.
Popov, a native of the village of Novoplatnirovskaya, has served under a contract since 2018. He died in March last year during the storming of Berdyansk.
This is the first known case of a memorial plaque in honor of a Russian soldier who died in Ukraine appeared in a kindergarten. Last December, a plaque was erected in a school near Ivanovo in honor of a serviceman killed by FSB officers during a shootout in a Kherson restaurant.
