Scientist Shares Tips for Better Performance
The NAFI Analytical Center conducted a survey among working citizens and found that the average Russian, on average, does not get enough sleep four days a week. Naturally, after coming to work, he works through the sleeves. Lack of sleep for Russians is a serious problem that can reduce work efficiency. Somnologist from the Institute of Problems of Ecology and Evolution. A.N. Severtsov of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences Vladimir Kovalzon expressed his opinion about the complaints of Russians about lack of sleep.
NAFI experts converted sleep deprivation into a monetary equivalent and it turned out that Russian employers collectively lose every month due to nodding subordinates at 291 billion rubles, or 3.5 trillion rubles a year.
To choose a way to solve the problem, experts recommend that you first figure out why the workers do not get enough sleep. If they don't have a very busy work schedule and don't get enough sleep, let's say, because of their excessive love of late-night computer games, that's one thing. But if a person simply does not have enough time to sleep, no disciplinary measures, such as a pay cut, will help here.
“Lack of sleep is a serious problem,” says Vladimir Kovalzon. — When they come to work, they really come to their senses for several hours, and only then they begin to complete tasks. There is one very effective way to deal with this — where possible, transfer people to a free work schedule. In this case, they will not have to run to the bus or train in the morning. Much depends on the type of work. Physical labor, for example, invigorates in itself, and working on a computer provokes drowsiness. A person sometimes pretends to be working, but in fact he is out.
Vladimir Kovalzon recommends trying to keep a sleep schedule:
— There is an idea that every person needs at least 8 hours of sleep. But this is an average. In fact, everyone has their own measure of sleep: one needs 5 cycles — the same 8 hours, another needs 6 cycles — that is, 2 hours more.
time, — the fact that we continue to be ahead of solar time by one hour interferes:
We stopped translating the arrows, canceling the so-called «Medvedev's» time. But one hour of standard time remained untranslated — these are arrows translated at the beginning of the last century. The clock is just fixed in our daylight saving time. Because of this, we are now one hour ahead of solar time in all zones. Meanwhile, on the recommendation of physiologists, for the ideal working conditions of our biological clock, in Russia it is necessary to make one collective retraction of the arrow back — and then never touch it again.
By the way, according to the scientist, some would have a quiet hour in the workplace. More precisely, the time for daytime sleep should not, according to him, exceed 45 minutes, otherwise the daily rhythm may shift and it will be difficult for a person to fall asleep at night.
