The Moscow branch of the party «United Russia» at a conference on Friday decided to nominate the current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, for the post of the capital's mayor.
In his personal blog, Sobyanin said that the decision to run again for the post of mayor of Moscow is not easy and very responsible.
«From the bottom of my heart I thank my comrades in the United Russia party for my nomination for the post of mayor. I count on your support, Muscovites!» he wrote.
«We are going through a difficult period in our history. And we need to use all our experience, knowledge, and all our strength to adequately overcome difficulties and emerge victorious. Under the conditions of the sanctions war, to support and develop the economy of our city, to maintain the social security of Muscovites to provide support for our guys who are defending our Motherland with weapons in their hands,» Sobyanin said.
Single voting day in 2023 in Russia is scheduled for September 10. Since 2010, the post of mayor of the capital has been occupied by Sergei Sobyanin, he was re-elected twice, running as an independent candidate.
