Police officers at the capital's Vnukovo airport detained 19-year-old Chechen Selima Ismailova, who had previously run away from home due to violence. This is reported by the human rights project «Marem».
The «Consortium of Women's NGOs» writes that they want to transfer the girl to the Chechen security forces — the police said that she is a suspect in a criminal case of theft (part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code) and has been on the wanted list since April. Now, two lawyers from the Center for Victims of Domestic Violence are with her.
Ismailova planned to leave for Germany — in March she ran away from home, because, according to her, her father regularly beat her. On March 14, she wrote a statement in which she stressed that she left home voluntarily and asked not to look for her.
The girl was born in Chechnya. When she was 12 years old, the girl's family moved to Germany. She complained about her father's violence and even approached the Youth Welfare Office, talking about problems in the family, but later retracted her words under pressure from her mother. In 2021, the family returned to Chechnya again, and her father continued to beat and threaten her.
In November, 18-year-old Leyla Gireeva from Ingushetia fled to St. Petersburg because of domestic violence. Later, relatives were looking for her, and the police detained the girl, also imputing an article on theft to her — according to human rights activists, her mother wrote a statement against Gireeva. As a result, Gireeva was forced to return home. “Leyla confirmed that she really decided to return to Ingushetia, as she realized that the seriousness of the conflict with her relatives and the criminal case would not allow her to live in peace. The girl wants to personally eliminate misunderstandings with her family,” human rights activists wrote at the time.
