KALININGRAD, June 13 The fire in the village of Kruglovo, Kaliningrad region, has spread throughout the territory of the solid waste landfill on an area of almost 5,000 square meters, an inspection has been organized, said a senior assistant Regional Prosecutor Xenia Keish.
The landfill caught fire on 12 June. During the day, the fire area increased by more than 10 times, from 350 square meters to 5,000. According to the press service of the regional government, the cause of the fire was drought.
«The fire spread throughout the landfill, it's almost 5 thousand squares,» — said Keish.
She added that the elimination of the fire continues. Upon ignition, the regional prosecutor's office organized an inspection, the results of which will assess the implementation of fire safety requirements during the operation of the landfill, as well as environmental legislation.
On June 9, a regional emergency regime was introduced in the Kaliningrad region due to the loss of crops.
In May this year, the region received only about 5.5% of precipitation from the climatic norm. Such a long dry period led to a dangerous phenomenon — soil drought. In addition, due to the lack of rainfall, an emergency level of fire danger in the forests has been established in the region. //ria.ru/20230613/pozhar-1877748222.html» data-title='Sadovod market caught fire in Moscow'>
