Deputies in the second reading approved the introduction of arrests and fines for violating martial law

The State Duma adopted in the second reading amendments that will introduce fines and administrative arrests of up to 30 days for violating martial law.

The bill was originally introduced in 2019 and had nothing to do with martial law, but in May , before the second reading, the document was amended.

It is expected that the Code of Administrative Offenses will introduce a new article 25.1.1 on violation of martial law. According to it, citizens can be arrested for up to 30 days or fined up to 1,000 rubles. Similar terms of arrest and fines from 1,000 to 2,000 rubles are provided for officials.

In addition, if a protocol is drawn up for a person who was driving a car, the vehicle may be confiscated.

On October 19, 2022, Putin introduced martial law in the occupied territories of Ukraine — in Kherson and Zaporozhye areas of the self-proclaimed LNR and DNR. The regime allows you to declare a curfew, inspect cars and seize property.

In March 2023, the State Duma also adopted amendments in the first reading that will give commanders of military units and heads of military police during the mobilization period the right to apply to military personnel below the officer rank of disciplinary arrest. Now this requires a decision by a military court.
