DONETSK, June 14 On Wednesday Ukrainian troops fired 17 shells of «NATO» caliber 155 millimeters in the regions of Donetsk and the settlement of Luganskoye, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC).
«Fire was recorded from the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (Armed Forces of Ukraine — ed.) in the following directions: 17.30 — the settlement of Zhelannoe Second — the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky district): five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 17.30 — the settlement of Paraskovievka — the settlement of Luhanske: seven were fired shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters; 17.45 — the settlement of Zhelannoe Vtoroye — the city of Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired,» the message of the representative office in the Telegram channel says.
Petrovsky district of Donetsk is located on the western outskirts of the administrative center of the DPR, this is the most distant part of the city from the center. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kyiv, this area, starting from the line of contact outside the city of Marinka, has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces.
Kirovskiy district is located in the south-west of Donetsk, next to Petrovsky district. The village of Luhanske is located on the southwestern outskirts of Donetsk.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Ukraine with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
