The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) published a joint statement in February 2022, according to which Russian national teams and clubs are suspended from participation in international competitions for an indefinite period due to the events in Ukraine.
“Football is one of the sports most affected by the sanctions – this is the suspension of national teams, and the suspension of clubs from participating in European competitions, and the departure of the player who collected sports analytics, and the departure of sports outfitters. But we also perceive this time as time of opportunity. A few hours ago, an agreement on a new technical partner was signed at SPIEF. Next year we will see our team in a new uniform of a Russian equipment manufacturer, this will successfully carry out import substitution,» Surikova said during the session «Sport in the New Reality» in Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
