Beget hosting disabled the site of the St. Petersburg editorial office of Novaya Gazeta, despite the fact that Roskomnadzor did not demand to completely or partially restrict access to the address novayagazeta.spb.ru. It is reported by Lenizdat. Journalists from Novaya Gazeta confirmed the information to Mediazone.
Currently, the newspaper's website cannot be accessed even with the VPN turned on. When you click on the link, a “Page blocked at the request of Roskomnadzor or due to a violation of hosting rules!” appears. Editorial members noted that they had lost access to the backend and personal accounts.
In the Beget support service, the editors explained that they restricted access to the site on their own initiative, seeing that it was in the Roskomnadzor registry with the status «Access restricted». At the same time, the department did not require the hosting company to block the St. Petersburg newspaper Novaya Gazeta.
“You need to resolve the issue with the ILV by yourself by appealing the decision,” the support service added. Roskomnadzor has the right to spend 30 days to consider applications.
