
MOSCOW, 17 Jun. The festival «Igor Stravinsky: Oranienbaum — Mariinsky Theater» has started in St. Petersburg, the press service of the institution reported.
The show will open with the composer's first opera, The Nightingale, based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

On this day, the audience will also see ballets choreographed by Leonid Yakobson — a miniature «Troika» and «Brilliant Divertissement» «. The orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will present a symphony program dedicated to Stravinsky.
The Stradivarius Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theater under the direction of Lorenz Nasturiki-Gershovichi will perform Apollo Musagete, the Concerto for String Orchestra and the suite from the ballet «Pulcinella».
The program of the show includes the ballets «The Fairy's Kiss», «The Rite of Spring», «The Wedding», «Petrushka», «The Firebird», «Rubies» and others.
The festival will end on June 25th.
