According to Rogov, a gas cylinder exploded in the car. The same information was voiced earlier by Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea on information policy, without specifying details about the victims.
Epifanov himself was driving. His secretary and bodyguard were also in the Toyota Land Cruiser. After the explosion, the driver lost control, the car crashed into a fence. All three received severe burns and were taken to the hospital.
The regional prosecutor's office will oversee the procedural check.
