CHISINAU, June 22 Moldovan Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov said on TV8 that the country's authorities see no point in buying natural gas from Gazprom.
“Now the country sees no point in purchasing gas from the Russian concern. Even if prices from Gazprom are lower, it is quite possible that the volumes they will supply will not be enough,” Parlikov said.
According to him, both sides do not fully fulfill their obligations. Chisinau blames Gazprom for an unjustified reduction in supplies, while the Moldovan authorities have not provided the results of the promised audit of Moldovagaz's historical debt.
Earlier, «Gazprom» said that it reserves the right to completely stop gas supplies to Moldova because of a gross violation of the deadlines for concluding an agreement to settle the historical debt of JSC «Moldovagaz». Only in August last year, the Moldovan government signed an audit agreement with the Norwegian company Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma and the British Forensic Risk Alliance&Co. It was expected that the first results of the audit would become known in January-February, but the deadline for the audit was extended until April. At the end of May, the head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Cheban, said that there were no results of the audit, since the authorities did not pay for it.
