Former Rambler co-owner Alexander Mamut responded to Meduza's article that he left Russia after the outbreak of the war and was going to launch a «liberal media». Mamut’s comment is quoted by Lenta.ru, which is part of the Rambler group.
“As before, when Meduza wrote about me, this news is a provocative, pure lie, pursuing the only goal — to take revenge on me for the early termination of the employment contract with G. Timchenko, ”Mamut believes.
He claims that Meduza's publication is «a lie from beginning to end.» The businessman added that no media after the sale of «Rambler» he did not launch and does not intend to do so.
At the same time, Mamut did not confirm or deny the information from the Meduza article that he left Russia and now lives in France and the UK.
In 2020, Mamut sold to Sberbank 45% of Rambler, which he had co-owned since 2012. In March 2014, Mamut fired Galina Timchenko from the post of editor-in-chief of Lenta.ru. This happened after the publication published an interview with one of the leaders of the Right Sector. Part of the team left after Timchenko, they soon launched Meduza.
