Promes — a new patriot of Russia? The star of “Spartacus” is following in the footsteps of Monson

Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes started selling real estate in the Netherlands and will probably receive a Russian passport. The leader of the “red-whites” is determined to stay in Russia for a long time and may follow in the footsteps of Jeff Monson and Steven Seagal. The only question is whether he is really a great patriot of our country or just trying to avoid criminal punishment.
Background The main star of «Spartacus» is mired in problems with the law in two criminal cases at once. This week it became known that an Amsterdam court sentenced Quincy to a year and a half in prison for aggravated assault on a cousin. As reported by the Dutch media, Promes quarreled with a relative at a party and hit him with a knife.

In another case, the football player is accused of drug smuggling. According to the AD edition, the player planned to gain about six million euros from the sale of cocaine. The police intercepted two consignments of narcotic substance with a total weight of about 1370 kilograms, which, according to the investigation, belonged to Promes.

Both stories happened in 2020, when Quincy was still playing for Ajax Amsterdam. At the end of that year, he was even arrested, but was released two days later, while leaving him in the status of a suspect. Largely for this reason, the Dutch player decided to return to Spartak, for which he had previously spent five seasons. Now criminal cases overtook Promes in Moscow.

Quincy will really become a Russian? In Spartak, they said that the player has time to appeal the verdict, which has not yet entered into force. It is not very clear what chances the player has to win the appeal, but it is clear that both he and the club are preparing for the worst-case scenario. However, it can be avoided if Promes receives Russian citizenship.
«The decision on citizenship is the decision of the player himself. If there is one, the club will provide support,» Oleg Malyshev, the new general director of the Red-Whites, told reporters.
Thus, Quincy can follow in the footsteps of the famous Hollywood actor Steven Seagal, fighter Jeff Monson and a number of other foreigners who sincerely chose Russia as their new permanent residence. Monson defiantly handed over his US passport, and he did it in a vest. Promes also repeatedly confessed his love for Russia, from this point of view there are definitely no questions for him. Yes, and he is an excellent footballer and is an adornment of the Russian championship, especially now that a large number of legionnaires have left the RPL.

It's another matter that criminal cases did not hang over the same Monson and Seagal when they made the decision to obtain Russian citizenship . The situation is extremely difficult and delicate. Moreover, it is not completely clear what really happened in the Netherlands in 2020 and what was the role of Quincy in all this.
The footballer himself, obviously, recently took another step towards Russia. He sold property in his homeland for 2.5 million euros. His chic mansion went to the famous DJ Martin Garrix. Promes instructed his mother to make a deal with him. According to sportnieuws.nl, the accommodation is located in the prestigious Zuidas district of Amsterdam.
