MOSCOW, June 23. Dutch archaeologists have found an ancient sanctuary. Its age is four thousand years. The media dubbed the discovery the «Stonehenge of the Netherlands,» writes Phys.org.
The excavations began back in 2017. They were held in a small village 50 kilometers from the city of Utrecht. The results of the study have just been released.
Scientists stumbled upon three barrows. The diameter of the main burial is 20 meters. It has several aisles lined up in a row. They served as a solar calendar.

The other two mounds are smaller. They have been used as a burial place for 800 years.
Another curious find is a glass bead. Scientists suggest that four thousand years ago it was brought from Mesopotamia. In those days, glass was not made in the Netherlands. Probably, the bead was considered a spectacular thing — the material from which it was made was unknown to the locals.
Earlier it was reported that the foundations of 5500-year-old buildings were found in the Chinese province of Shanxi.
