MOSCOW, June 25 Vladimir Zelensky in his The Telegram channel said that he had discussed the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and called for a principled reaction to this at the NATO summit.
Earlier, Zelensky said that he had received a report from the intelligence and security services of Ukraine, according to which Russia allegedly prepared and is considering a scenario of a terrorist attack with a release of radiation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Kyiv, with accusations against Moscow, is covering up plans to create an emergency at the ZNPP.
«Held the first of a series of important telephone conversations with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau… Draws the Prime Minister's attention to the threatening situation that… has been created at the Zaporozhye NPP… Ukraine's partners should demonstrate a principled reaction, in particular, at the Vilnius NATO summit «Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that he also spoke about the situation «on the battlefield and shared Ukrainian assessments of the attempted rebellion in Russia and the impact of this situation on the course of hostilities.»
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. In October 2022, the nuclear power plant became the property of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Enerhodar and the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant adjacent to the city. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Kiev regime seeks to create the appearance of a threat of a nuclear catastrophe by continuing to purposefully shell the ZNPP. The International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly stated the need to create a security zone around the nuclear power plant.
