The criminal case on organizing a rebellion by the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin (Article 279 of the Criminal Code) was dismissed today. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the press service of the FSB.

“During the investigation of the criminal case <…> it was established that on June 24 its (mutiny — MZ) participants stopped actions directly aimed at committing a crime. Taking into account this and other circumstances relevant to the investigation, on June 27, the investigating authority issued a decision to close the criminal case,” the release says.

The Criminal Code provides for “voluntary and final refusal to complete the crime” as grounds for ending the persecution. The case against Prigozhin was opened on the evening of June 23, a few hours after the head of the PMC accused the Russian Ministry of Defense of a missile attack on the “rear camps” of mercenaries and announced a rebellion against the military leadership of the country.

Prigozhin's rebellion lasted about a day. During this time, Wagner PMC mercenaries seized military facilities in Rostov-on-Don, marched on Moscow and did not reach the capital for about 200 km.
