A representative of the prosecutor's office during the debate asked the judge to appoint Valeria Zotova, a resident of Yaroslavl, to 8 years in prison. This is reported by the human rights project «Solidarity Zone». The verdict is expected today, they noted.
19-year-old Zotova, who worked as a foreman at the Magnit distribution center, was detained in February and accused of intending to set fire to a humanitarian aid collection point for the military in the village of Karabikha, 15 kilometers from Yaroslavl. This was qualified as an attempted terrorist act (Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code).
During interrogation, she said on camera that “for 7,000 rubles she handed over photographs and coordinates to a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named Andrei buildings” and “wanted to set fire to the humanitarian aid collection point for the mobilized”.
The girl's mother, Svetlana, said that Valeria corresponded with a man who introduced himself as Andrey and asked to perform «tasks», including «doing something with the railway», but at first she refused. According to the mother, her daughter's interlocutors were intelligence officers who «twisted her, looking for fools.»
After the search and arrest of her daughter against Svetlana Zotova herself, who had previously been fined because of the inscription «Glory to Ukraine» on the wall stall, opened two criminal cases due to comments in the telegram — under articles on justifying terrorism and inciting extremism on the Internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code and part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code). Svetlana was ordered not to leave the country as a preventive measure.
