Pentagon: State Department approves $440 million sale of ammunition and equipment to Taiwan

The US Department of Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced that the US State Department approved the sale of 30 mm ammunition to Taiwan in the amount of $332.2 million. In addition, the supply of spare parts, software and components for equipment will be carried out and arms worth $108 million. The Pentagon has assured that these sales will not harm US combat readiness.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the United States has submitted a request to purchase various types of 30mm ammunition, including HEI-T (high explosive incendiary — tracer) ammunition, multi-purpose ammunition and training projectiles. Providing these possible supplies will improve Taiwan's security, maintain political stability, military balance and economic progress in the region, Washington is confident.
In addition, spare parts, parts for wheeled vehicles and weapons, as well as related software worth about $108 million.
Earlier it became known about the signing of a contract between Taiwan and the United States for the supply of anti-tank remote mining systems M136 Volcano worth about $146 million.
The United States broke diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979 and established them with the PRC, however, they continue to maintain contacts with the Taipei administration and supply weapons to the island. The total amount of unfulfilled US arms deliveries to Taiwan is currently about $19 billion.
