St. Petersburg, 30 June. The court found the former head of the Vyborgsky district of the Leningrad region, Gennady Orlov, guilty of fraud with embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of more than 730 million rubles and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, the prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg reports.
«The court, taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, sentenced Orlov to 7 years in prison, with a fine of 750 thousand rubles, with a ban on holding positions in state bodies for 2 years,» the supervisory agency notes.
The court found that from January to December 2019, the former head of the administration of the municipal formation «Vyborgsky District» Orlov, as well as the «fake contractors» Osmanov, Mukhortov and Sinelnikov found by him, transferred budget money to the accounts of commercial organizations and individual entrepreneurs as payment for work that was not actually performed. The amount of stolen funds exceeded 738 million rubles. In addition, in 2018, Mukhortov, Osmanov and Shimyakin withdrew another 26 million rubles to commercial accounts in a similar way.
Sinelnikov was sentenced to 2 years in prison, Shemyakin — to 3 years of imprisonment on probation for 3 years, Mukhortov — to 3 years in prison, Osmanov — 4 years in prison, and each was fined 500 thousand rubles.
It is noted that convicts will serve their sentences in penal colonies of general regime.
