The Central Bank of Russia plans to expand the list of countries that will accept the card of the Mir payment system. According to Alla Bakina, director of the national payment system department of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, this year they plan to bring Mir cards to five or six new countries. In an interview with Izvestia, she noted that although some states are worried about possible secondary sanctions, there are those that are ready for cooperation and are actively discussing this possibility.
Since the beginning of spring, the Mir maps have become available in Cuba. Alla Bakina said that the Cuban side has already started setting up POS terminals, and this summer cards will be accepted in the entire network of terminals. She expressed confidence that it would become a convenient means of payment for Russian tourists.
It also became known that on June 15, the Mir system was launched in Venezuela. Currently, Russian cards are already accepted on the resort island of Margarita, and in the capital of the country the system is working in test mode.
