The mayor of Krivoy Rog spoke about the tense situation with the water supply of the city

MOSCOW, Jul 3 Water supply situation in Krivoy Rog on Ukraine is very tense, it is necessary to save water as much as possible, the mayor of the city Oleksandr Vilkul said in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, Vilkul said that after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, water in the city will last only for a month and a half, subject to economical consumption. The enterprises of the city partially suspended their work due to the situation with water. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in early June allocated 2.4 billion hryvnia (more than $65 million) for the construction of new main water pipelines for water supply to the southern regions of Ukraine affected by the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

«As for the situation with water supply, it remains very tense. Water supply from the Southern Reservoir has been carried out exclusively on reserves for 25 days — therefore, we save water as much as possible,» Vilkul wrote in his Telegram channel.

On the night of June 6, Ukrainian troops launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, destroying its upper part, while the dam itself survived. The destruction led to unregulated discharge of water from the Kakhovka reservoir and flooding of the coastal regions of the Kherson region downstream of the Dnieper.
Vladimir Leontyev, head of the administration of the Novokahovsky urban district, laid responsibility for the destruction of the hydroelectric power station on Kyiv. One of the goals of the Kyiv regime's bombing of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is to deprive Crimea of water, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station a barbaric action by the Kyiv regime and noted that this led to a large-scale environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Kiev regime blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, as it weakened its positions in the Kherson direction, transferring troops from there to the offensive area. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the attack.
The Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is the sixth (lower and last) stage of the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant cascade, located five kilometers from the city of Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region, which became part of Russia following a referendum on September 30, 2022.
