Film director, actor and screenwriter Alexander Mitta was born on March 28, 1933 in Moscow. He graduated from the directing department of the All-Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK), where he was mentored by People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Romm.
The director's debut in cinema took place in 1961, when he directed the film ''My friend Kolka'' together with Alexei Saltykov.
