MOSCOW, July 5 The orbit of the International Space Station was raised by more than 3 kilometers using the engines of the Russian Progress MS-22 spacecraft before the launch of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft and landing » Soyuz MS-23,» Roskosmos said.
“The ISS orbit was corrected before the launch of the Soyuz MS-24 and the landing of the Soyuz MS-23,” the message says.
It is noted that the engines of the Progress MS-22 spacecraft were turned on at 00.17 Moscow time on July 5 and worked for almost 19 minutes. They gave the station an impulse of 1.85 m/s, due to which the average altitude of the station's orbit increased by 3.25 kilometers and now stands at 417.9 kilometers above the Earth's surface, Roscosmos specified.
The state corporation reminded that cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, as well as astronaut Loral O'Hara will go to the station on the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft on September 15. Sergei Prokopiev, Dmitry Petelin and Francisco Rubio will return to Earth on September 27 on Soyuz MS-23.
