PUERTO IGUAZU, July 5 Bolivia is open to Russian and other countries' investments, President Luis Arce said in an interview.
«We are open to Russian investments coming to our country, and not only from Russia, but also from other countries. We are open to receiving any type of capital. The only thing we ask is that our Constitution be respected, our laws, which are quite conservative in the distribution of profits from the industrial exploitation of natural resources,» he said.
Earlier, Rosatom's international uranium mining holding Uranium One Group and Bolivia's state-owned lithium company Yacimientos de Litio de Bolivia (YLB) signed a framework agreement on the construction of an industrial complex for the extraction and production of lithium carbonate in the Potosi department in Bolivia. Investments in the project will amount to about 600 million dollars. It is planned to build an industrial complex with a capacity of 25 thousand tons of lithium carbonate per year with the possibility of increasing the capacity based on the results of geological exploration. «Rosatom» intends to reach the target indicators of lithium production, occupying up to 4% of the world market, by 2027, said the general director of the Russian nuclear state corporation Alexei Likhachev.
