NATO summit will be held on July 11-12, it will bring together the leaders of all countries of the alliance, including US President Joe Biden. During the meeting, security on the streets of Vilnius will be provided by 1,500 police officers, who will be assisted by colleagues from neighboring Estonia, Latvia and Poland. From July 10 to July 13, 20% of transport routes will be reduced or changed in the Lithuanian capital.
According to an eyewitness, on Sunday morning the streets of the city are not crowded, because of this it looks empty, traffic continues, and there is no sharp increase in the number of law enforcement officers. Vilnius International Airport is expected to be closed for commercial flights during the two days of the summit. On the eve of the meeting, from July 7, Lithuania returned border controls with neighboring Latvia and Poland and introduced document checks at the international airports of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, as well as at the Klaipeda seaport.
