MOSCOW, July 8 Vladimir Zelensky said that the leaders of the regiment «Azov» *, which were in Turkey, returned to Ukraine, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called this a violation of the terms of the agreements both from the Ukrainian and Turkish sides.
The day before, Erdogan held talks with Zelensky in Istanbul, the meeting went on for more than two and a half hours. Erdogan said after the talks that Ukraine deserves to become a member of NATO.
He also noted that Ankara is negotiating with Moscow and Kiev on the issue of a new exchange of prisoners of war, and stressed that he is counting on negotiations with Vladimir Putin on a grain deal, which expires on July 17.
On Saturday, Zelensky said that the leaders of the Azov Regiment* who were in Turkey had returned to Ukraine.
Peskov said that the transfer of leaders of «Azov»* from Turkey to Ukraine is a violation of the terms of the agreements both on the Ukrainian and Turkish sides. They, the presidential press secretary added, were supposed to remain in Turkey until the end of the conflict, and their extradition is connected with the failures of Ukraine in the counteroffensive.
The presidential press secretary commented on Erdogan's words about Ukraine and NATO, saying that Ankara, as a member of the organization, shows solidarity with the alliance, Moscow understands this.
