The publication Yarnovosti, which has existed since 2010, announced that it would stop working due to being recognized as a «foreign agent» in June. Then the editorial office stopped updating its website for two weeks, publications continued to be published in their telegram channel.
“Purely theoretically, we could continue to publish with the marking of foreign agents, but none of the editorial staff wants this, because that today we have decided to suspend the activities of the media. The corresponding notification has already been sent to Roskomnadzor,” the employees’ appeal says.
The Ministry of Justice entered Yarnovi in the register of “foreign agents” on June 2. “Over the entire period of our existence, we have not received a penny of foreign funding. This has always been our principled position,” the journalists answered in the editorial office.
