VELIKY NOVGOROD, July 10Specialists have developed a small-sized unit of a radar station (RLS) for detecting low-flying and semi-submerged drones for ships, Sergey Chebotarev, head of the Advanced Engineering School of NovSU, told reporters.
He explained that the radar can detect small targets within a radius of up to several kilometers. The device can detect a target, determine its range and radial velocity with high accuracy, capture and trajectory tracking. The development went through a series of experimental tests.
» One of the main tasks of introducing this device is to equip ships for detecting small-sized UAVs in the near zone. This processing unit can be connected to ship antenna posts without affecting their characteristics and receive an additional channel for radar surveillance of the near zone,» Chebotarev said.
The radar uses a single antenna to transmit and receive a signal. Due to the use of complex probing signals, it has high noise immunity and secrecy. The work is being carried out as part of the Science and University project.
