A criminal case was opened against Olga Avdeyeva, a surgeon from Izhevsk, because of an inscription on the building of the local theater. The woman herself told OVD-Info about this.
Avdeeva is accused of repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), as a preventive measure she was ordered not to leave the country. The reason for the case was that in the summer of 2022, having seen a banner in the form of a Z-symbol, she left the inscription “Fascists” on the facade of the building of the Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.
For a long time, a criminal case was not initiated. Avdeeva herself believes that the case was opened right now because of her recent anti-war action — two weeks ago she went to the theater building with a poster «Russia is doing evil.»
Previously, a doctor was brought to responsibility under the administrative article on “discrediting” the armed forces (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) — she was fined 15 thousand rubles due to a single picket held on March 13, 2022. On that day, Avdeyeva went to the city center with a banner in the colors of the Ukrainian flag and shouted anti-war slogans, urging “disobey Putin” and impeach him. “Stop killing Ukrainians!” the doctor also shouted, according to a court order.
In addition, a resident of Izhevsk was fined a thousand rubles because of a picture with a swastika and the Russian flag, found guilty of displaying Nazi symbols (part 1 of article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), and five thousand rubles for participation in the action in support of Alexei Navalny on January 31, 2021. One of the court decisions also reported that Avdeeva is the mother of five children.
