MOSCOW, Jul 15 on the territory of radioactive contamination, was canceled in Ukraine due to a lack of funds in the state budget, according to the Zerkalo Nedeli publication.
«Some Ukrainian pensioners receive allowances and additional payments to their pensions. Unfortunately, they will no longer be able to receive one of the types of additional payments. The changes affected Ukrainians living in the territory of radioactive contamination. Previously, some Ukrainians could receive an additional payment in addition to their pensions in the amount of one up to three times the minimum wage, but now these payments have been canceled because the budget does not have enough funds to cover the needs of these people,» the statement said on the publication's website.
According to the publication, the Pension Fund and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine consider these payments «superfluous, especially now with a budget deficit.» At the same time, it is specified that the abolition of additional payments will not affect pensioners-liquidators and victims of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Ukrainians aged 70 and over can receive a monthly pension supplement. Its size depends on the age of the person. Thus, pensioners who have reached the age of 70 can receive 300 hryvnia ($8.12) a month, from 75 to 80 years old — 456 hryvnia ($12.35), and for pensioners over 80 years old — 579 hryvnia ($15.68) .
