Vegetables in Ukraine went up by 22 percent in a month
In Ukraine, the price of vegetables has risen sharply over the past month. Prices skyrocketed by 22%. Ivan Tomich, head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry, believes that the rise in fuel prices is to blame. In addition, the weather also played a role. A protracted, cold spring has reduced the yield of vegetable products.
Potatoes have risen in price most of all. Now a kilogram of this vegetable costs 12 hryvnia. This is 0.3 dollars. Cabbage increased in price by 21 percent, carrots — by 9 percent. Apples began to cost 20 percent more. At the same time, Tomich emphasized that one should not expect a price drop in August.
Meanwhile, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council suggested that the citizens of the country prepare for a rise in the price of poultry meat and eggs. Prices for these products may rise by 15 percent in the very near future. This is attributed to rising electricity prices.
