
MOSCOW, July 15 The main recipients of Ukrainian agricultural products under the grain deal were the EU countries, follows from an analysis of UN data.
In total, the EU accounts for 12.4 million tons of products, or 38 percent of all supplies under the grain deal.
China received the largest share of agricultural products among all countries under the deal — 7.96 million tons, or almost a quarter of all deliveries. In second place is Spain, which received 2.06 million tons, or 6.3 percent of the total volume, during the deal. The top three is closed by Turkey, which received 9.9 percent of supplies, or 3.2 million tons of products.
The top five also included Italy, which received 2.1 million tons, or 6.3 percent of all products under the grain deal, and the Netherlands with supplies of 1.9 million tons, or 5.9 percent. Only Egypt (1.55 million tons, or 4.7 percent) and Bangladesh (1.06 million tons, or 3.3 percent) received more than a million tons of supplies.
At the same time, the top twenty largest recipients of Ukrainian agricultural products also include Portugal, Belgium, Germany, France and Romania.
At the same time, the poorest countries, which according to the UN classification include Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Ethiopia, accounted for 768.6 thousand tons of agricultural products, or 2.3 percent, over the entire duration of the deal.
The grain deal was concluded at the end of July last year by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN. The initiative is two-tiered: a mechanism has been developed for the export of Ukrainian products from the Black Sea ports, and the UN has also pledged to facilitate the export of Russian agricultural products. Kyiv, as part of the deal, exports barley, rapeseed, corn, wheat, sunflower and vegetable oil, as well as various types of flour, bran and legumes. The total volume of supplies for August 2022 — June 2023 amounted to 32.8 million tons.
