MOSCOW, July 15 Serial production of a high-precision quantum frequency generator, analogues of which are produced by a few foreign companies, will begin in the near future, said the head of the Development Center and introduction of promising technologies of the All-Russian Research Institute of Physical, Technical and Radio Engineering Measurements (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart Stanislav Gusev.
“We took the scientific developments of the departments of our institute, on their basis a device was made and is now being introduced into a series, this is a small generator, it will be used as an electronic component base that produces a very high-precision periodic signal,” Gusev said.
He clarified that such devices are used in navigation systems, as well as in secure communications, in particular, in the latest generation radio communication systems.
«At the same time, the developers of the same radio communication and navigation systems are guided in their developments by what is on the market, and put these parameters into their equipment. The appearance on the market of this type of device allows developers to reach for such accuracy and improve their equipment,» — added Gusev.
He said that in Russia there are no analogues of such a device, and there are no foreign supplies now. Foreign quantum frequency standards of this class, which are not directly imported into the Russian Federation through various channels, cost five times more than their market price, Gusev specified.
At the moment, VNIIFTRI developers estimate their frequency standard, which is more accurate than foreign analogues, at half a million rubles, but when launching mass production, they plan to reduce its price to 200,000. In addition, the institute is working on another version of such a device — simpler and more technologically advanced, and therefore more accessible.
