MOSCOW, July 15 The Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (IRCC) plans to create a system that will allow Russian companies to buy Italian goods that are allowed to be imported into the Russian Federation, the head said in an interview IRTP Ferdinando Pelazzo.
According to him, at the moment there are difficulties with the exchange of goods between Italy and Russia, even for those categories of goods that are not subject to sanctions.
«We want to create a system that will allow the Russian buyer to pay us in rubles, and we could then transfer this money from our account in a third country to Italy,» Pelazzo said.
He added that it is necessary to negotiate with banks, find a third country and establish relations with the central bank of this state. «In this way, we make it possible to pay in rubles, which is important for a Russian buyer. We can quite simply convince banks and central banks that we are not engaged in money laundering. The legal tool that we plan to use is a paying agent. Any seller can determine an agent who receives this money by proxy,» Pelazzo said.
He stressed that the goal of the initiative is not to allow illegal transactions, but to facilitate trade in permitted categories of goods.
«There are questions that require a couple of months. These are negotiations with banks … I think that the whole process will take several months,» Pelazzo concluded.
