According to published data, the management of AvtoVAZ intends to assemble new engines — they will be 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline power units with a return of at least 150 hp.
It is reported that the production of engines will be launched in Togliatti on the assembly line, from which Nissan engines used to leave HR16. It is expected that the new power unit will be installed on the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover, which has exactly the same unit, but made in China.
Thus, AvtoVAZ will be able to raise the level of localization of the model. In addition, another contender for getting a turbocharged engine will be Lada Vesta, which has an excellent suspension and chassis that exceed the capabilities of the VAZ engine.
