The Sochi garrison military court appointed two years and four months in a colony-settlement to contract soldier Dmitry Morozov, who refused to go to war in Ukraine. The verdict dated June 28 appeared on the website of the court, attention was drawn to this by the publication Kavkaz. Realities».
Morozov was found guilty in the case of non-execution of an order during mobilization (Part 2.1 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code). According to the materials of the court, on February 1, 2023, Morozov, while in the formation of personnel, told the acting deputy commander of the military unit that he was refusing to participate in hostilities «in the territory of the NMD.»
One of the five witnesses in the case said that Morozov was repeated the order orally and then in writing, but he still refused to comply with it “because of conviction of conscience, fear for his life and health, and also in connection with by the fact that he did not pass the military medical commission and additional payments were not made to him in full for participation in the performance of special and combat missions in 2022. A video recording from the formation was also attached to the case file.
According to the verdict, the contractor pleaded guilty. «Caucasus. Realii wrote that Morozov was trying to challenge the criminal case filed against him in March. The serviceman emphasized that at the time of receiving the order he had not passed the medical examination, and the category of his fitness for service was not determined. The court dismissed his complaint.
