MOSCOW, July 17 Three powerful flares occurred on the Sun on July 16, one of them was accompanied by a radio communication breakdown, according to the website of the Fedorov Institute of Applied Geophysics.

"At 11:26 Moscow time, an M1.1 flare with a duration of 14 minutes was registered in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 3372 (N21E30). The flare was accompanied by a disruption of HF radio communication,” the publication says.
At 18:08 Moscow time and 20:46 Moscow time, two more outbreaks of M1.8 and M4.0, respectively, occurred.
According to the space weather forecast for July 16-17, «class X flares are possible, including proton flares.» Deterioration of HF radio conditions is also expected.
Sun flares can cause magnetic storms on Earth, which, in turn, disrupt power systems and affect the migration routes of birds and animals. In addition, severe storms cause disruption of shortwave communications and navigation systems, as well as power surges in industrial networks.
