A magnitude 4.0 earthquake was recorded in the Sea of Okhotsk off the eastern coast of Sakhalin
The island branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that on Friday, seismologists recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 in the Sea of Okhotsk near the eastern coast of Sakhalin.
According to the head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station, Elena Semenova, earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred on Friday at 14:39 (06:39 Moscow time). She clarified that its epicenter was in the Sea of Okhotsk, 108 kilometers east of Cape Svobodny on the southeast coast of Sakhalin. The specialist added that the focus of the tremors was at a depth of 417 kilometers.
Semenova also noted that the inhabitants of the settlements of the island did not feel the earthquake, and the tsunami alarm was not announced.
